At the time of writing this post, the patch set is available for download on My Oracle Support.
Of course, Siebel Open UI is the next big thing and it will appear on many screens across enterprises worldwide. What Siebel Open UI can do (and can't do) is of course worth a blog on it's own (good luck) or at least a series of posts on this humble blog which I hereby promise to deliver soon.

Here is the official list of enhancements and new features gleaned from the Maintenance Release Guide published alongside the patch download (brace yourself):
- ACR 632 provides CRM Desktop support for Lotus Notes
- ACR 726 provides BI Publisher 11g integration
- ACR 752 provides support for IBM Tivoli Directory
- ACR 755 provides support for Microsoft Active Directory on Microsoft Windows 2008
- ACR 758 and RF 970 enhances Siebel Clinical
- and finally, ACR 801 enables Siebel Open UI (also includes the Siebel Mobile Applications based on Open UI)
Wow! Truly a box full of treats for Siebel customers. Kudos, thank You and happy Holidays to all the good people at Oracle who obviously worked hard to make this happen. I am quite sure, we well read and learn a lot about Open UI and the other features in the near future.

The patch is also available on eDelivery now, you might want to download it from there!
Additionally, they've built 5 or 6 QuickFixes already which need to be applied on top of 8.1.1.9
Those QFs are targeted to be released at 21st of December (according to MyOracleSupport Communities). Check the Siebel community there for more info.

I've downloaded and installed 8.1.1.9 and it's REALLY straight forward to get OpenUI up and running.
As to getting it WORKING, that's a different matter - I cannot for the life of me get the 'New' buttons to do anything. It's pretty to look at, but non-functional at the moment.
Perhaps I should RTFM before I get too far ahead of myself?!
Exciting times ahead though - this should inject some life into old Siebel!

I am not able to find the patch mentioned here in support.oracle.com-->patches and updates. Could you please suggest where can i find this patch. Even in Oracle edellivery I can only find siebel 8.1.1.9
Do I need to upgrade from 8.1.1 to 8.1.1.9 to use this feature, Please advice

thanks for an article. I would be interested in knowing why there's not any Loyalty functionality enhancement mentioned? I read somewhere that Siebel Loyalty enhancements implemented in 8.2 will be also implemented in 8.1.1.9., however this doesn't seem true.
Have I missed something ?

I have no direct access to internal information but it seems that 8.1.1.9 doesn't include the Loyalty enhancements.

simply search for "8.1.1.9 23016" in the Patches & Updates section on My Oracle Support.
Similarly on E-Delivery you can download the 8.1.1.9 files and install them as a patch on top of any existing 8.1.1.x installation.

I have downloaded 8.1.19(32 bit) from Oracle Edelivery, Any how the available patch is only for 64 bit OS. Hope Oracle even releases a patch for 32 bit in future

Thanks for this update. 8.1.1.9 is very good, I'm on it now.
I have query though: Development activities go on without Innovative pack for a while, after deployment client will apply the patch if they want to see all the excitement.

since 8.1.1.8, Oracle doesn't provide separate files for 32 and 64bits.
download the 64bits, it will contain necessary files for 32bits OS.
Is it possible to have a full install from scratch to get 8.1.1.9?
Or do we have to install all previous 8.1.1.x before applying .9?
I thought with .9, we could directly install .9 with all ACR's installed.

Congrats for your success full installation of patch. While we were Applying patch to exciting 8.1.1, got the following error, could you please help me in resolving this

In the 8.1.1.9 Release Guide, they've mentioned about "Siebel 8.1.1.9_8.2.2.2 Quick Fixes" for known issues related to Siebel Open UI functionality. But where do I download and install them? I couldn't find them in 'Patches & Updates' tab either. Please advice.

I was referring to the same Document ID 1515339.1. But there the Patch numbers are listed under 'Bug Id' column. Hence was not getting in the search result.. :( Thanks anyways... :)

Are you aware of Innovation Pack 2013? Innovation Pack 2012 it isn't mentioned anywhere. I believe that 2013 pack already have all fixes that were release from then to here.
Do you know anything about it?

Siebel Maintenance Release 8.1.1.9 / 8.2.2.2 is in fact Innovation Pack 2012.
To my knowledge, Oracle plans to have one IP each year but there could be smaller patches in between.

Hello,
while making Win installation files from base files, I've noticed that there's no Siebel Sample Database file cointained, meaning no maintenance pack is provided (I've also found this note in Bookshelf installation guide for windows).
After installing 8.1.1 developer client, siebel tools and sample database and patching it to 8.1.1.9, I can't run the local client with sample database. Following error is thrown:

Any ideas how to make Sample database work under 8.1.1.9 in order to check OpenUI and newest features? Any help would be highly appreciated.

Hi Vlado,
I don't think that the error is related to the sample db. Once you have installed the base build, you should be able to launch the applications and connect to the sample db.
If you have applied any of the repository patches (to enable Open UI for example), you must also apply the db schema changes to the sample db using Siebel Tools.

Hi Alex,
I haven't applied any repository patches yet, that I learned later. So my issue is acrually related to 8.1.1.9 in general. Hopefully Windows 7 as platform is not an issue here, cause I learned it Siebel client/tools also runs on Win 7.
I'll maybe retry applying fixpacks, hopefully that will solve the issue....
