In May, ec4u went live with the first Siebel Mobile connected application in German speaking countries. As we know, the new mobile applications use the Open UI framework to implement a modern web-based UI which can be consumed on any browser/device combination.
The underlying object model of this new application has been developed for an internal application named "TheCore" which is in production at ec4u since 2001. The new mobile application utilizes these objects and supports the following internal processes:
- Customer and Contact Management
- Activity Management without Calendar
- Vacation and Education Management with request/approve/decline processes
- Employee database
Siebel Open UI based connected mobile applications share the same business logic with classic Desktop applications and we were able to apply our main processes and functional logic.
The main effort in the development phase was to adjust the applets and the modification of the appearance due to the restricted space.
The following screenshots (iPhone 5) show the login screen, a list applet and a form applet to modify, delete or add new records.
